Easy, Trendy Nail Art

Nail Art Pictorial

If you would like to achieve this nail look, follow the instructions below. =D

  • To get the best, cleanest look with your nail art, you always want to be sure to prep your nails to the best of your ability. Start out with a clean, manicured set of nails.

  • Before applying color, always make sure to use a base coat to protect your nails and to avoid staining.

  • Once your nails are ready, you can begin to apply 2-3 coats of polish, letting them dry fully in between each coat. (Thumb & index finger: Yellow, middle finger: pale pink/nude, ring finger: silver, pinky: hot pink/fuchsia)

  • When the polish dries, the fun part begins!! On your yellow thumbs paint a little more than half of it with a nice coat or 2 of the hot pink color. It does not have to perfect. Allow it to dry.

  • Then use a thin striper to draw a white section in the center of the pink and yellow. It will kind of look like a candy corn.

  • To create the black lines, use a nail art brush and take your time. The pattern can be whatever you like it to be. Zebra, or just random lines.

  • The index finger: Using a nail dotting tool, or the end of a bobby/hair pin, make small and medium sized polka-dots. You can dip the dotting tool into black acrylic paint, or any black nail polish.

  • On the ring finger, use an assortment of medium and small, silver and pink rhinestones and cover the entire nail. For the pinky, I used silver rhinestone to create a triangle shape. (apply a clear coat of polish to your nails and then gently place rhinestones on the top of the wet nail.)

  • Lastly, apply a top coat, clean any excess polish from the cuticle or skin area, and apply cuticle oil. Then you're good to go!!

Fun, Fabulous, Fall Nails

Nail Art Pictorial
  • So the first thing you always want to do before painting your nails, is to make sure you start out with a clean, prepped canvas. If you are working with your natural nails, give yourself a quick manicure. That includes cleaning your cuticles, shaping your nails, buffing and cleaning under the free edge etc.. I personally am working with artificial add ons (acrylic tips) that I do myself. If you're working with acrylic nails you want to make sure they are refilled and ready to go.

  • So before you put polish on your nails, you always want to add a base coat to avoid any staining to your natural nails. I apply a base coat to my acrylic nails because I change polish often and staining isn't too appealing.

  • Once you've applied a base coat, you can then begin to add colored polish. I chose a gold, purpley/maroon, black, and a rosey gray color for my nails.

  • Apply 2-3 very thin coats, letting each coat dry about 10-15 minutes before applying the next. This will help avoid your polish being too thick, and that ANNOYING smudging!!

  • Next, to achieve a basic cheetah/leopard print nail design on the middle and ring fingers, I created small "round-ish" spots on my nails. I randomly placed them and spread them out so that I had room to add the black outlining.

  • Then, using a small dotting tool (or the tip of a bobby/hair pin), start to paint uneven parentheses surrounding each spot. Keep in mind that you want your parentheses to have a random wiggle to it so it can look more natural. Also, add black dots in open areas on the nail.

  • For the pinky finger, I used a gold nail art brush to draw 4 vertical lines. Then on my index finger I decided to go with a "Chevron/Charlie Brown shirt" design using the same nail art brush.

  • Give your nails plenty of time to dry, then add a top coat. Clean any excess polish on the edges of your nails. Nourish your cuticles with cuticle oil and you're good to go.

Exhausting, Drowsy, Lazy-Bones Kind O' Day=(

My Kitty Cat when she is having one of those days.. :P

This is EXACTLY how I feel today!!

A chilly day today in Philadelphia, with partially cloudy skies and a nice burst of sun every once in a while, about 50 or so degrees Fahrenheit with winds at 6mph and a 29% chance of storms. Haha. Okay yes, I took that one way too far, but at least you have your weather update.. (if you live in Philly). :P

Anywho!! Even though the weather is not too, too bad, and there is a good amount of sunshine, for some reason today I am just not feelin' it. I am in my "mope around the house, snuggled in a blanket and drinking hot tea" mood. Today has been extremely uneventful so far, I'm in college, so after coming home from class, I got cozy in my bed, trying to study and do homework and instead of making progress, I am either dozing off, or smacking my hand every time it reaches for the remote control! I know that we all get those days every once in a while, some more than others (me!!), so I am trying not to feel too guilty about it. But I swear it really is hard to snap out of.

Usually, after having a day like this, I find it hard to come back from and I would love to go to a spa and get a massage, or just some type of relaxing treatment to help rejuvenate my spirit and bring myself "back to life". But, like I said before... I'm a college student... on a college student's salary, which in plain English means BROKE. haha. So what I like to do when I have the time is set up my own DIY spa day, at my home.

I usually do something for my hair, nails, toes, face, and my all around mood.

For my hair I may try a treatment, maybe a hair mask, an oil treatment, or even clipping my ends (depending on what you need done to your hair). A very Inexpensive oil treatment that you can get from any Walmart, Target or drugstore near you, is the V05 Hot oil Treatment:

This product does a pretty good job at taming your hair and reducing frizz. I would recommend it as a quick fix for someone who is having trouble managing their frizz. It's definitely not a permanent solution by any means, but it does make a significant difference if you have rough, course, dry hair.,

For nails and toes, I usually do a mini, at home mani and pedi, soaking the skin, cleansing, and moisturizing. What I have been using for quite some time now is the Deja Vu Dead Sea Nail Kit:

The reason I am using this particular kit is something that I am not too pleased about really. For years and years I have been hassled at a few stands in one of the malls that I go to most here in Philly. They try soo hard to sell the product that it actually is quite annoying! Anyone who has been to Franklin Mills mall, has probably tried a sample or been harassed by the people working the stands selling this product!! As annoying as the sales reps have been, and as much as I hate to admit it... these products work pretty well. (and I gotta give it to them, they obviously know how to sell)

For my face I like to try out new masks or use a home-made recipe for a facial. It all really just depends on your mood, the time you have, and the resources that are available to you. At my local super-market, or at any drugstores, they sell the small "sample-size" one time facial masks that are very inexpensive (like $1.50) and I like to try any of those out whenever I'm in the mood for a facial.
Montagne Jeunesse Masks are always fun and extremely In expensive
Freeman Facial Masks are GREAT! And they are inexpensive as well.

Usually listening to music, lighting candles, taking a bubble bath, and/or giving yourself a mini spa day at home can brighten up your spirit and give you that extra boost that you need to push through exhausting days like I'm having today,

Its always good to spend time on yourself and to give back to your body, relax yourself and show your body and mind some appreciation, in anyway that you can. So if you are feeling like you need to replenish and snap out of zombie-mode, try setting up a spa day for yourself. Heck, it might even be fun to make it a group thing and invite friends, have some cocktails and enjoy a few drinks with the girls (maybe meet up before ladies night). Whatever the case may be, don't forget to treat your mind, body and spirit right because we all deserve to be happy and feel at peace.

I hope that this helps someone, ANYONE who may have come across by blog. lol
Take care and be happy:)
